Megan and Zach’s Abingdon Virginia summer wedding was a day full of warmth, joy, and thoughtful details that made every moment feel personal. The Bride got ready at the Martha Washington Inn, surrounded by her mom and friends. The room filled with easy laughter and the kind of comfort that comes from being fully yourself around the people who know you best. Nothing felt rushed. We wandered into the library for photos, letting the quiet and the light hold those moments. Afterwards, we stepped out front where a vintage car waited, rented just for the day, just for them. The vintage car added a touch of nostalgia and playfulness to the morning.
The ceremony unfolded along the river on the Creeper Trail, at a shelter Megan designed in honor of her late brother. Standing there, it was impossible not to feel the intention behind every choice. The river moved steadily beside us, the air warm, the space filled with love that felt both celebratory and reverent. It wasn’t about spectacle. It was about presence, remembrance, and the way love continues to show up, even through loss.
Later, everyone gathered at the newly renovated Summers Roof and Cellar. The evening shifted into something joyful and communal. Summer florals softened the space, long tables invited family-style dining, and fresh plates were passed and shared. Conversation lingered. When the disco dance floor opened laughter, movement, and light carried the night forward.
As I think back on this day, I’m reminded how meaningful it is when a wedding is allowed to feel true. When it honors joy, memory, and the people who shape us. Megan and Zach’s wedding in Abingdon, Virginia was a reflection of that kind of care and intention.
